Queen breeders often work towards a particular goal in their selection and breeding efforts, with some of them putting more emphasis on robustness traits like disease resistance and wintering ability and others more focused on production characteristics such as honey yield.

A National Project
As a national project, FutureBees NZ aims to be of service to the wider industry, and help both queen breeders and their customers to understand which genetics would be the best fit for them. To this end, we want to understand if there are groups of people within the industry with different requirements.
Do beekeepers who provide pollination services value different characteristics in their bees than honey producers?
The goal of this survey is to ensure that we can answer this question and others like it (e.g. high-value honey producers vs. low-value honey producers).
The only way to do this is with beekeeper input.
